1. About Aires Hostel

These terms apply to reservations made directly with Aires Hostel through this website, our booking engine or our team, and to stays at the property.

2. Scope and acceptance

By completing a reservation, the lead guest confirms that they have read and accepted these terms, the conditions attached to the selected rate and any house rules communicated before or during the stay. The lead guest is responsible for making the other guests in the booking aware of them.

If a rate condition or written booking confirmation differs from these general terms, the specific condition shown before payment and included in the confirmation takes precedence for that reservation, without limiting any mandatory consumer rights.

3. Reservations and confirmation

A reservation is confirmed only when a written confirmation is issued and any payment or card guarantee required by the selected rate has been successfully completed. Availability and prices may change until that point.

Please check the guest names, dates, room type, number of guests, price and rate conditions in your confirmation. Contact us promptly if anything is incorrect. Requests such as a preferred bed, view or arrival arrangement are subject to availability unless expressly confirmed in writing.

4. Prices, taxes and payment

The total price, included taxes and any charges payable at the property are displayed during the booking process. Payment timing, deposit requirements and accepted payment methods depend on the rate selected.

Online reservations are processed through our Amenitiz booking engine and its payment service providers. Their secure systems may process payment details under their own terms and privacy notices. Aires Hostel does not ask guests to send complete card details by ordinary email.

5. Changes, cancellations and no-shows

Unless a different cancellation policy is clearly identified for the selected rate before booking, the following standard policy applies:

Refund percentages refer to the amount paid for the cancelled reservation. Any change to dates, guest numbers or room type is subject to availability and may result in a different price. A cancellation takes effect when Aires Hostel receives it through the original booking channel or by email.

Accommodation booked for a specific date or period is generally excluded from the 14-day right of withdrawal under Portuguese distance-contract rules. This does not affect the cancellation rights expressly included in your chosen rate or any other mandatory legal rights.

6. Arrival, departure and access

Self-check-in instructions and access details are included in the booking confirmation or sent before arrival. Guests may be asked for valid identification as required by law. Access codes and keys are for registered guests only and must not be shared.

Early arrival and late departure are subject to availability and must be agreed in advance. Additional charges, where applicable, will be communicated before acceptance.

7. A calm stay, shared respectfully

Aires Hostel is a quiet, nature-oriented property rather than a party hostel. Guests must respect quiet hours, other guests, neighbours, shared areas and staff instructions. Smoking is not permitted in prohibited areas, and unlawful, dangerous or seriously disruptive conduct may result in the stay being ended where proportionate and legally permitted.

Guests are responsible for damage caused deliberately or through negligence. Any charge must reflect the reasonable, documented cost of repair, replacement or exceptional cleaning.

8. Availability, safety and exceptional events

We take reasonable care to provide the accommodation and services confirmed. Temporary changes may be necessary for safety, maintenance, operational reasons or events outside our reasonable control. If we cannot provide the booked accommodation, we will contact you and offer the remedies required by applicable law.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including mandatory consumer protections.

9. Personal belongings

Guests should take reasonable care of their belongings and use any storage facilities made available. Please notify us promptly of loss, damage or a safety concern so that we can assist. Liability for personal property is governed by applicable law and cannot be excluded where the law does not permit it.

10. Questions, complaints and dispute resolution

Please contact us first at welcome@aireshostel.com so we can try to resolve the matter directly. Consumers may also use Portugal’s Electronic Complaints Book.

For alternative dispute resolution, the competent centre for the Autonomous Region of the Azores is the CNIACC — National Centre for Information and Arbitration of Consumer Conflicts. Use of an alternative dispute resolution entity is subject to its rules and to the applicable legal requirements.

11. Website links and third-party services

This website links to independent services, including the booking engine, Google Maps, WhatsApp, Instagram and activity partners. We are not responsible for the availability, content or data practices of independent third-party websites. A booking with an activity provider creates a separate relationship under that provider’s terms.

12. Applicable law and updates

These terms are governed by Portuguese law. Any choice of law or jurisdiction is without prejudice to mandatory rights available to consumers. We may update these website terms when our services or legal requirements change; the terms accepted when a reservation is made continue to govern that reservation unless the parties lawfully agree otherwise.
